Description

Algar Ferrari of Philadelphia is happy to present to you today this classic 1998, F355 Spider 6-speed, shown in Rosso Corsa over Beige leather interior.Open sports cars are an integral part of Ferrari tradition: the first Ferrari ever to be built, in fact, was an open sports car - The 125 S. The F355 Spider's Pininfarina-penned lines were honed by 1,800 hours in the wind tunnel. The result successfully blended the elegance and aerodynamics of the F355 Berlinetta with open air driving. The factors that made the F355 such a successful model made the transition unaltered to the Pininfarina-styled Spider was a very elastic 380hp engine with 5-valves per cylinder with a specific 109/hp liter power output and a 4.5 second sprint from 0-62 mph. Distribution was by means of twin overhead cams with 5 valves per cylinder and the con rods were made of titanium while the control unit was the Bosch M5.2, dry sump lubrication and a six-speed mechanical gearbox completed the picture along with a dry single plate clutch. This particular F355 semi-automatic retractable hardtop is dressed in Ferraris classic color combo of Rosso Corsa over Beige leather interior along with the desirable 6-speed gearbox, received its Major Timing belt engine out service roughly 200 miles ago, so it checks all of the necessary boxes.A tachometer that redlines at 8500 rpm suggests a peaky engine and a dull, off-song response to the throttle at low revs, but that isn't the case. In fact, the F355 pulls willingly almost from idle, with no snatching or shuffle. Because the Ferrari engine has a 180-degree crankshaft, (which produces equal firing intervals on each cylinder bank for best exhaust timing), its firing order is more like two straight-fours than the four V-twins of the typical arrangement. So it sounds more like a demented four-cylinder motorcycle than a NASCAR stocker at high speed which makes it one of the best modern V8 Ferraris to grace this earth. For further details, please contact our knowledgeable sales staff 610-527-1100.
