It was available on all three versions: berlinetta, GTS, and the Spider. The new transmission was revolutionary for its time, guaranteeing quick gear changes with the advantage that both driver's hands could stay on the wheel at all times. The car's 3496 cc engine punched out 380 horsepower thanks to distribution from twin overhead cams with five valves per cylinder; giving a power output of 109 hp/liter. The 355 F1 GTS had an aluminum and steel body with a full-body under-tray designed to equalize downforce between the two axles. The car's performance figures were a result of the underbody's aerodynamics.
